This is 17 Princeton St. Here is a brief history of the house. Cirlista Stone also known as Mrs. Moses P. Stone bought the land in 1862 from William H. Sumner with the agreement that she would erect a house immediately. Mrs. Stone started construction and moved in the house in 1863 with her husband who was a wheelwright by trade. That same year her husband died. Mrs. Stone tried to go into Small-Wares business located on Meridian St. in 1868, but according to the Boston City Directory in 1870, she was no longer in business.
During the 1880’s she is listed in the Directory as a Physician. Mrs. Stone died on Sept. 6, 1910.
This photograph depicting 17 Princeton St. was found in the basement of the house. The photograph is from the last quarter of the 19th century showing most likely Mrs. Cirlista Stone proudly sitting in her bay window. Note there is a sign in the photograph to the right of the front door advertising her practice.
